Summer Solstice Complete!

I've been quilting along with Melissa Corry of www.happyquiltingmelissa.blogspot.com
making her Summer Solstice quilt.  I did the 2x2 pattern which is four 32" blocks. I used up some batik chunks from my stash paired with a tone on tone black.  It's 84" square! A big nice size to cuddle under!

I just really love how it came out, its a great size and the Batiks really pop against the black!

Melissa always has great Quilt-a-longs with easy
clear instructions, you should really check out her blog!  I'm already planning on making another one of these and maybe a repeat of another beauty from her previous QAL's.

Thanks for stopping by, I'm going to link up my quilt top now to see if I can win in the Grand prize linky!
Wish me luck!!

So proud of this finish!

Its done!  Yay!

Some of you all remember a while back in February, my girlfriend Julie and I took a quilting class to learn how to use the "Quick Curve Ruler".  The pattern we did was
called "Urban Candy". We had a blast taking the class together!

Julie made a quilt for her daughter all in purples...it turned out pretty darn good, this picture will give you an idea of her colors, I cant seem to loaate a picture of the finished quilt!

I did mine in these gorgeous Limes, Blues and Purples for a coworker...

I got it all layed out and pieced finally with some moral support from Julie, some days I dont know what I would do if she wasnt here to sew with me!

Then I got it on the longarm!  I quilted it with my free motion loopy loops, Woot Woot!

Heres the finished quilt....I LOVE IT and so does the recipient!!! The colors are so rich, its just gorgeous!

Beautiful!!!

Jillian, the recipient said she can't wait to wrap herself up in it!  I'm so glad that she loves it as much as I do!

So, just a question for you all.....is it me or does it seem like the bigger a pain in the butt a pattern is, the more you like the quilt when it is done? This always happens to me.....does it happen you to also???

Amador County Fair 2016

I decided to enter the Amador County Fair this year.  It is in the next county over
from us.  Its a darling little country fair, lots of fresh flowers and animals.  I decided to enter
my Grandaugher Kamryns Rainbow quilt and my English Toffee.  I took the day off of
work and watched the judging for all of the baked goods and candies.  It was very educational, the judge was the cutest 94 year old woman.  She tasted every last thing, and no shocker here, she loved my toffee!!!  I got first place and best of Division!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner! Yea baby!

I also got a second place ribbon for Kamryns Rainbow quilt! That's my little sweetheart
Kamryn in the picture with me.  I can't tell you how shocked and happy
I am to receive a ribbon for one of my quilts, I only quilt for fun!!

So fun!  I will definitely enter again next year!!

A blue beauty!

I was gifted a quilt top by a coworker, she insisted that she didn't want me to give it back. I thought "ok", that's a little crazy in my book but OK!  It's all done in beautiful purples and blues, it's gorgeous and reminds me of water! I still say she's crazy but her loss is my gain!!

I recently got it on the Longarm and quilted in free motion swirls. I got the swirls pretty uniform and it came out great!  I really think it gave the quilt some motion, like waves, really liking it!

I don't know the name of the pattern but it looks like steps!

It's ready to be trimmed and bound! Yippee!

Happy gal!

This is my gorgeous niece Jetta, she's one of the sweetest people I know, that may sound a little biased but it's true! She's a wonderful person and a fantastic mother to three kiddos, two boys and one girl.  She and my sister came to visit recently and she asked me if she could buy one of my quilts. She loved my Confetti waves quilt that I had entered into my local fair.  She and her husband were adamant on buying it and wouldn't accept a family discount, argh! Kids!! Here she is in the standard "burrito style" quilt photo!

Love her, it was 100 degrees that day!

Shes such a ham!

I'm so happy that this quilt found a home where I can visit it! Ha! I must be crazy eh! But I have to admit that there are a few of my quilts that I have gifted or sold that I really miss!

This is being made for a coworker, she bought the fabrics, they are Organic (wooo weee!) and they are such pretty prints! I paired them with some
Joanns Country Classics gray, I'm really loving it!

Its now sewn into rows....time to trim the rows and then get them sewn into a quilt top...progress progress!!!

A quilt for Julianne

This is my Great Niece Julianne, my namesake...She lives
in Maryland and I live in California.  I don't get to see her very often but she is always in my thoughts.  She is a great little gal, good in school, girl scouts, loves animals and donates to help horses in need.  Shes a great kiddo!  She even sews!! She sews girl scout patches on vests for $1 a patch and donates the money to help foster horses.

Awesome! I'm so proud!

Oh and by the way, she sews on a Vintage Singer 403!!!

I just finished longarming this quilt top that I made a few years back. I longarmed it with a Lotus flower pantograph, since its a special quilt for my special girl.   This pattern was from a Quilt-a-long by Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting.  I actually made two, the other one was a patriotic version.  They both turned out great!  This one will be going to little Julianne for Christmas this year.  Its 90x90, so nice and big to fit on her bed and last her for quite a while.  I just know she is going to love it!

Now that this one is done, I have a pile of new fabrics called "Isabella" for my other Great niece Isabella that I am going to sew into the same pattern for her for Christmas.  I think its a great pattern for young girls that they can grow with and enjoy, I can just picture these two nieces of mine cuddled up reading with these quilts...Yay!

Better get back to it!

Donation Quilts

During the year I make up some blocks or quilt tops to send to the Sunshine quilt Guild in California.  They make and send completed quilts for "Wrap a Smile"
to be taken to children undergoing Cleft Palette surgery.

I hope these two lap size quilts will brighten a  kids day and keep them suggly warm......wrapped in a hug!

Tumbler Progress!

Greetings everyone, sorry that I have been a little "MIA" lately,I've just been busy busy busy!!

I have been trucking along on a few long term projects though....like these "leader-ender" Tumblers which is one of Bonnie Hunters Challenges for the year. I was playing with
these last Saturday while watching Quilt Cam.

They are 2.5" tumblers, cut from scraps. There are 50 tumblers in each row, making a nice width.

Theres a little bit of everything in here, from solids to
tone on tones to novelties...using it up!!  Aren't those brussel sprouts and tomatoes great????

Its getting big, but not big enough....since this photo and
Quilt Cam, I have added another six rows.
Its growing slowly....bit by bit by bit!!

Thanks for stopping by my little blog today...hope you
are having a nice summer and staying cool!
